Batteries can make Renewable Energy Revolutionary

Solar systems previously considered a luxury is now at the verge of falling prices and increasing demands. Solar photovoltaic (PV) has been indubitable expensive for years; it was as high as $8 per watt. The price has now fallen significantly to around $2 per watt. This progress has been met through improved production methods. It is also being supplemented with new storage batteries.

The solar or wind battery storage has positive ramifications on the overall perception on energy generation. Effective storage batteries have been in research for years, and still are. “Ceramatec”, is bringing this technology to the front door. The company is engaged in cleantech mainly in the field of energy research related to environmental impacts. This advancement will not only make solar energy more widely used but also make it more reliable.

Battery Features

The battery is an innovation to the industry. It can eventually generate a high-density power storage at a temperature less than 90 degree Celsius. The energy is produced by solid components and not of commonly hot liquids. Most energy-dense batteries are in forms of large containers with extremely hot toxic molten sodium and corrosive liquids. This is a state of technology that wouldn’t be appropriate for home use.

Size/Capacity

According to Cermatec, the innovative battery will be of the size of a regular refrigerator. It will have potential storing capacity of 5 kilowatts for 4 hours and then recharge. Energy stored in the battery is expected to last for over 10 years. This is an innovation that ceramatec is planning to sell at $2000, and it can definitely bring renewable energy at an individual scale from minor use to conventional technology.

The revolution that Ceramatec’s innovative battery can bring-about is countless. It can make off-grid energy production much more popular amidst households. Many problems actually succumbed to by private users such as black-out and failure of the grid system can be overseen. The ultimate aim of the technology is to reduce the dependency on the national grid and to enable a more democratized way of generating as well as storing energy.

Cermatec has also recently announced that they are going to innovative industrial battery products. This will certainly give another dimension and probably effectiveness to energy harnessing.

As new technology is being dissimilated into the industry, renewable energy can likely take the front-row. Wind and solar energy is something that can easily be generated at an individual basis and thanks to battery technology, energy conservation is also feasible. More control of energy production can now be assured as renewable energy packages are becoming sustainable and reliable.
