180 KW of Solar Power Harnessed in the Town Of Newington made Possible by MP2 Capital

180 KW of solar energy power has been developed by a leading operator and financer in solar project, MP2. An array of photovoltaic will be set at Martin Kellogg Middle School. It will provide energy to the town of Newington, Connecticut for a period of 20 years. This project was made possible by the contribution of Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) grant.

CEO of MP2 Capital, Mark Lerdal, is gratified by the dedication of CCEF to act for the long-term to promote renewable sources of energy such as Solar Developments.

The system that MP2 has installed was developed by Solar Design Associates, a well-known company that designs sustainable architectures in the market for renewable energy. A total of 592 photovoltaic panels that were bought from SunPower are going to produce an average of 192,000 kWh (kilowatt hours) of renewable energy from the sun during its opening year of operation. Besides, throughout its lifespan it is estimated that as much as 3,670,000 kWh will be generated.

MP2 Capital has successfully accomplished various solar projects all over North America, yet this is the first project in Connecticut, according to Mark Lerdal. Furthermore, this project has become a concrete triumph through CCEF involvement.

President of Solar Design Associated, Steven Strong considered that working in the Town of Newington as being a grateful experience. Yet, many collaborators where involved in the project including Board of Education and through cooperation; the installation of solar energy was completed well before the turn of the session. Besides, solar energy has always been considered as something necessary to schools, and supplying solar energy to Martin Kellogg School is just an accomplishment acquired.

Providing solar energy to and giving students a chance to see how solar panels work in front of their eyes, is a steady vision head, according to Stephen R. Wood, School Board Chairperson in Town of Newington. The collaboration with Board of Education, MP2 Capital and Solar Design Association is giving teaching staff a first-hand experience in the field of harnessing solar energy. This is likely to bring learning to a higher level for students.

President of CCEF, Lise Dondy, says that the installation of solar energy at Martin Kellogg Middle School will act as a pool of awareness in the field of renewable energy. Hence, this is giving students an ecological understanding of why protecting the atmosphere and environment is fundamental.
