Peak Oil Might Be More Than A Yarn As Saudi Arabia Studies Renewable Energy

Maybe there is something to the Peak Oil controversy after all since it was announced that Saudi Arabia, a nation that manages a full one quarter of the planet’s oil reserves, is examining renewable energy. This information was made available courtesy of Lady Barbara Judge, the UK atomic Energy Authority chairperson.

Judge was coming home from a trip to Saudi Arabia and a meeting on energy that was attended by the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority. It was put together by the UK Trade and Investment or [UKTI] body and she said that even though the Saudi Arabian Kingdom had the lowest price for fossil fuel around the globe, the country is taking an extensive look at alternative forms of energy.

Judge was part of a group of business delegates and came with Lord Davies, the Minister of Trade, Investment and Small Business to the King Abdullah Economic City close to Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia is investigating solar energy and wind power and the city Jeddah, built on the Red Sea, is among numerous other cities under construction in order to accommodate and offer employment to the quickly expanding population of Saudi Arabia, expected to become as large as Hong Kong.

Government officialdom is trying to see that all the cities are sustainable, energy proficient as well as being kind to the environment, so says the UK trade And Investment Group.

Lady Judge claims the new Saudi economic cities present exciting prospects for British business and industry. It is not often that one can have a new beginning, but what the Saudi’s have is the capability to start construction from square one. The opportunity for UK commerce having a role to play is huge because of their prowess in engineering and the field of energy associated development, not to mention legal systems and other services.

Included in the companies attending with the delegation was RPS Energy and to show the flag for the legal industry in Saudi Arabia was Cameron McKenna. After they were introduced to The Saudi’s thanks to the UKTI, Cameron McKenna commenced with the crafting of an electricity law for The Saudi Kingdom.
