People are increasingly envisaging renewable sources of energy. In the developed world, it is necessary to invest in renewable energy, to enjoy a high standard of living. This is applicable to both business and households.
People view alternative sources of energy as an important energy source. The benefits of using renewable energy are numerous. It includes benefits such as environmental, financial, and it even provides employment in the locality.
Solar energy
The sun provides extensive heat to our planet. This source is harnessed through what is called Solar Thermal Energy. It is a process of generating energy from the heat emitted by the sun. The solar thermal system functions like typical electrical system; the heat is used to create steam which in turn generates turbines to produce electricity.
A major shortcoming of solar energy as a renewable source is that it is not always available. For instance, during cloudy days the potential of solar energy is reduced. This applies similarly to wind turbines, some days the wind blows more than other. For hydroelectricity, in case of droughts, the water level is too low to generate electricity. Most of the renewable sources of energy face this predominant short coming of lack of reliability.
Yet, it is certain that future generation of renewable energy will surpass the drawbacks of these conventional technologies that are being used nowadays. There are major breakthroughs in the field of renewable energy such as:
1. Nano-solar panels
2. Nanoleaves
3. Fusion energy
These are sources of energy that are more constant and reliable. They use very advanced technology and are relatively expensive.
Wind energy
In America, the fastest growing alternative source of energy is wind. In California, large wind turbine generates a substantial part of energy requirements for the state. The state of California, has more than 13, 000 wind turbines. It did in 1995, alone represents more than 30 percent of all wind energy produced on our planet earth.
